QUITO, MY BEAUTIFUL CITY
LINK

Quito is one of the oldest cities in Ecuador, founded nearly five centuries ago, and is divided in two very specific areas: the new city, that is modern, with skyscrapers and wide avenues, and the old city, completely colonial, with many charming historical buildings.
Quito is located on a horizontal strip of land running north to south between beautiful mountains. The splendor of the city's natural setting, combined with its attractive squares, parks and monuments as well as the warmth of its people, makes it a unique and unforgettable place.
The city has the best-preserved, least altered historic centre in Latin America. The monasteries of San Francisco and Santo Domingo, and the Church and Jesuit College of La Compañía, with their rich interiors, are pure examples of the 'Baroque school of Quito', which is a fusion of Spanish, Italian, Moorish, Flemish and indigenous art.
The historic old town of Colonial Quito is the jewel in Ecuador's crown. The city was designated the first UNESCO world Heritage City in 1978 in recognition of the importance of its colonial architecture (ahead of cities like Bath and Venice).

Introduce Yourself

I am Sylvia Moncayo. I am from Quito - Ecuador, I have been teaching English as a Foreign Language to teenagers and young adults for about 7 years.

I really love teaching and I would like using technology in my classes because I consider that is the best and funny way for teaching nowadays.

I have not had the opportunity to travel to English Speaking Countries , but I have done some Teacher Training at Cambridge University and with The Embassy of the United States.

week 1- Reflections

Good night everybody!

I hope that all of you are fine.

Well, I am very pleased to take part of this course, and also I feel very exited because I have never had the opportunity to create a blog, and I did it!, now I know that is was not so complicated as I always thought.

I am completely sure that in this course I am going to learn many interesting and useful  things that will help me in my way of teaching and the best part of it is that "the main beneficiaries will be my students".
