QUITO, MY BEAUTIFUL CITY
LINK

Quito is one of the oldest cities in Ecuador, founded nearly five centuries ago, and is divided in two very specific areas: the new city, that is modern, with skyscrapers and wide avenues, and the old city, completely colonial, with many charming historical buildings.
Quito is located on a horizontal strip of land running north to south between beautiful mountains. The splendor of the city's natural setting, combined with its attractive squares, parks and monuments as well as the warmth of its people, makes it a unique and unforgettable place.
The city has the best-preserved, least altered historic centre in Latin America. The monasteries of San Francisco and Santo Domingo, and the Church and Jesuit College of La Compañía, with their rich interiors, are pure examples of the 'Baroque school of Quito', which is a fusion of Spanish, Italian, Moorish, Flemish and indigenous art.
The historic old town of Colonial Quito is the jewel in Ecuador's crown. The city was designated the first UNESCO world Heritage City in 1978 in recognition of the importance of its colonial architecture (ahead of cities like Bath and Venice).

  1. Quito, "Light of America"...............
Quito's old town was considered first latinamerican human heritage by UNESCO, and the biggest and best well-preserved old downtown in América. The whole city is full of beautiful landscapes of the Andes Mountains.
